Hi, my name is Celia Gulbin.
I have combined my two passions for art and Bonsai in this display. I find both art forms exciting. While they are very different, they are both captivating and call to the creative side of my spirit.
Bonsai is an ancient form of art practised for centuries by the Japanese. Bonsai trees can be hundreds of years old and passed from generation to generation. I think I have found my next generation Bonsai custodian. My grandson Beau is shaping up to being a gardener. He is only three but a grandma can hope. He loves gardening with me and planting sticks in pots, so he is showing promise.

I have many trees - some I have bought, some I have dug up from various places and some have been cuttings. I have then shaped and worked on them; they feel like friends rather than just a plant.
I have many friends in the Bendigo Bonsai Group who are also on a similar journey. It is great to be with like-minded people. Just like the DSAS artists, sharing and learning about your art with others who share your love of art. It is a gift that keeps on giving.
